Beginning to edit the film
Today I started to look over the scenes we have filmed and edit them. So far I was able to edit the clips that Sofia and Kaitlyn were able to film together. The first thing I did was cut out any parts of the videos that we didn't need. This included sections where they had to press the record button, or that simply just took up time, and cut out anything that was unnecessary. I then tried to adjust some of the shots' volume. I noticed that is some of the parts that where filmed either outside or far away from the characters, it was difficult to hear them. I tried to edit the volume to where you can hear the character talk louder and clearly. I then started to work on some of the transitions. Some of our shots where going to be split screened, so I wanted to figure out how I can do that. Since we are using iMovie to edit our film, I looked at all the different transitions we had to see if any of them looked cool and fun to include in our film. I didn't think any transition was necessary for the shots, so most of them I just edited to where they can match up to the next scene. Before I edited most of the film, my group and I decided that it would be a good idea to discuss what transitions we wanted to include in the film. This was a good idea so we all agree on how to film should look. So for right now, that is all the editing I can do. I decided to look through what we have filmed and see what spots could be good to include music. I also thought of what music to include. I couple weeks ago I looked for music/sound effects that I thought could be useful for the film. I decided that I would look over some of the ones that I liked. But before I did anything with music, I wanted to talk it over with my group and make sure it is okay with them. Hopefully in class we will get a lot of the editing done, so we won't be cramming to finish it. Finishing the project early will also give us extra time to look over any mistakes or parts we don't like, so if we want to change it we can.
