Beginning to edit the film

Image
Today I started to look over the scenes we have filmed and edit them. So far I was able to edit the clips that Sofia and Kaitlyn were able to film together. The first thing I did was cut out any parts of the videos that we didn't need. This included sections where they had to press the record button, or that simply just took up time, and cut out anything that was unnecessary. I then tried to adjust some of the shots' volume. I noticed that is some of the parts that where filmed either outside or far away from the characters, it was difficult to hear them. I tried to edit the volume to where you can hear the character talk louder and clearly.   I then started to work on some of the transitions. Some of our shots where going to be split screened, so I wanted to figure out how I can do that. Since we are using iMovie to edit our film, I looked at all the different transitions we had to see if any of them looked cool and fun to include in our film. I didn't think any transitio

Making props for the film

Image
Today, I started working on one of the props for the film. I did not need to make many props for our film, but one of the props included a list of tasks that are going to be crossed off. This list is going to be shown in scene 8, which is the last scene. My group and I worked on picking out the font for the list. I wanted to find something that looked scary, and similar to fonts that may appear in thriller movies. I looked on one of the websites that creates all different design of fonts for you. One of the fonts that I found was called Golf Club Homicide. Despite the weird name, I felt that it best matched the font that I was looking for. My group member Kaitlyn thought it would be a good idea to add blood stains on the paper, so I looked online for blood stains to add. The title of the last list was "Phase 1: To Do List."It was followed by each of the killer/kidnappers tasks. 3 out of the 5 tasks where crossed out. I thought that this prop was a good way to end the film, a

Filming Blog

Today, my group and I talked about filming parts of our project. Because Sofia and Kaitlyn are in most of the scenes, I decided that I would film their scenes. My plan was for Sofia and Kaitlyn to come over to my house and we would film any of the sections that we needed there. Then, we would walk over to the park that is near my house. Right as Sofia and Kaitlyn were going to come over, the weather started to get very cloudy out. It soon started to rain. Since it was raining, we decided it would be best to film on another day. So instead, we decided to FaceTime to talk about everything that we needed to film.  Since Sofia and Kaitlyn live closer, they said that they can try and film the scenes that they have together. I don't make an appearance until later in the film, so I don't have to worry too much about it. On the FaceTime call, I offered to take a picture of myself to put in the news section of our project. I though this was a good idea because it could be similar to mo

Getting my costume and makeup ready for film

Image
Today, I started to film some of the shots for our project. Because I am supposed to be dead, there is not much filming that I will need to do. Before I filmed I had to get my costume and makeup ready. My costume is going to be a ripped up t-shirt that is dirty, with most likely shorts. My group member Kaitlyn ended up finding a shirt that she ripped up, and it turned out good. After I got my costume put together, I wanted to focus on makeup. Since I am dead, I looked up "dead looking makeup."It came up with a lot of good ideas. Most of the looks included pale makeup, with very dark eye "bags" and defined facial structures such as cheekbones or collarbones. Since I am not very good at doing makeup, I wanted to practice doing different looks to see which ones I liked the best, and to get some practice. Luckily, since I'm dead, it doesn't have to look perfect. For my hair, I decided that I will probably wear it down, but will make it look very knotty. I looke

Preparing for the film

Image
Since I need to start filming certain scenes for the film, I needed to started getting certain props or materials for the project. My member needs a white t-shirt for her costume, so I offered to get her a shirt. First, I looked for an old t-shirt that I could give her. It had to be white, so I made sure that it was a white shirt that didn't have any designs or logos. I looked in my closet, and I didn't find any t-shirt that I could give away. Then I looked in my dads shirts to see if he had any old ones. He did not have any that I could use so I decided to go to target to get a shirt. I went to target and got a plain white t-shirt. I made sure to give it to Kaitlyn next class. After discussing with my group members, we decided that in order for us to be able to film, Sofia and I decided to switch roles. Sofia and Kaitlyn live much closer together, so it would be easier for them to film together. And I have a pretty busy schedule, so I wouldn't want to hold back my group f

Production Blog (Music)

Image
Today, I looked for possible music choices that my group could use in our project. The first thing that I had to do was to make sure the music was royalty free. One website that I found pretty useful was shutter stock.com. This website allowed me to look up any genre of music. It gave me a large variety to pick from. The first type of music I looked up was suspenseful music. The music I found sounded really cool, and I thought it could go really well with our project. Another website that I found could be useful was stock.adobe.com. This website had all different types of genres that you could choose from. I looked under the suspense genre, and I was able to find some really cool music/sound effects that I would definitely consider putting in our film. Since my project is a thriller movie, one of my goals was to include good, suspenseful music. I feel that it could add a lot of effects towards the audience, and help to create a sense of "being on edge." I made sure to show m
