Genre Research- drama

Common camera angles: High and low angled shots are used most commonly in these types of films. They help establish the film's power dynamic. For example, a low angled shot establishes authority and power to the individual(s) it faces. A high angled shot accentuates the vulnerability of the victim(s) and establishes LACK of authority.

Common Sound: Common sound found in dramas often include, ambient sound, diegetic and non- diegetic sound, dialogue, and voiceover. Music also plays an important role in drama films because it tells the audience what emotion we should be feeling

Common Costumes: the costumes often relate to the personality of the character in the drama. For example, if the character has a dark spirited personality, they would most likely be wearing clothes of darker color, while a character that has a happy personality would wear clothes that are brighter colors

Common lighting: Low-key lighting creates a sense of mystery and drama. Key lighting refers to the main source of light. It is usually the brightest and creates shadows.

Common Drama makeup: the makeup that is found in dramas depends on the characters, setting, and what the topic of the film is about.  For example, if the drama is about kids in high school, they would most likely wear small amounts of makeup to make their age more obvious to the audience.

Common settings: common settings include, schools, houses, a big city.

Common editing: Common editing elements are flashbacks that give the audience a good backstory to better understand the film.

Example films: Black Panther, A Star is Born, Love Simon, Black Swan

Elements of dramas that I like: I like how dramas allow us to be creative about what the plot can be about. I also like how dramas can often give off a meaningful message to the audience and can often present common emotions that people go through.

Elements that I do not like: I feel like are a lot of dramas that have similar messages to them, which can be difficult when you are trying to be creative with your film.
