Short film screenplay

 Screenplay:

Camille Keith as the mean girl (Courtney)

Julie as the new girl (Macie from Michigan)

 

 

Int. Macie’s house-DAY

This is the home of the new girl, Macie. In this scene, Macie will be getting ready for her first day at her new school. This scene will be starting in her room

            Macy starts this scene off by waking up in her bed. It then cuts to her getting dressed for school, doing her hair, makeup, and getting her back pack. Macie will then walk to her kitchen

Macy walks into the kitchen while her mom is cooking breakfast

Mom

(In cheery tone)

Good mourning honey, are you ready for your first day of school?

 

Macie

(In a nervous, quiet voice)

Yeah, I guess

 

Macie and her mom sit down to eat breakfast. They both eat their breakfast quietly, without talking to one another

Mom

(In concerned voice)

Macie is everything alright? You are being usually quiet this mourning.

 

Macie

(In an annoyed tone)

I don’t know mom, I’m just really tired of always being the new girl at school. It just feels like every time I’m finally starting to make new friends, we’re moving again because of dads stupid job. It’s just not fair!

Macie gets up from the table and goes off to her room. Her mom sighs, and looks worried for Macie. 

Macie finished getting ready for school and walks toward the door to go out to her car.

Macie

(in a loud voice)

Alright Mom, I’m going to school!

Mom

(Yells from the other room)

Hold on honey I’m coming!

(Macie rolls her eyes)

The Mom gives Macie a hug before she goes

Mom

(in a gentle voice)

Macie, I’m sorry that we are always moving, I know that must be very hard for you, but unfortunately, that’s just part of your fathers job. But you are such a strong girl, and I just know that you will make tons of friends and have a great time at your new school. 

Takes a pause

I love you Macie 

(Macie sighs)

I love you too

Macie walks towards her car and drives to school 

Int. At the new school. Day

Macie walks into her new school, feeling very nervous. Courtney is with her friend Emma and her crush Jacob when they all spot Macie.

Joshua

(while looking at Macie) 

Who is that?

Emma

Oh, I’m pretty sure she’s new to our school. I heard that she moved here from Michigan or something.

(Courtney stares at Macie)

Courtney begins to walk towards Macie and bumps into her causing her to drop some of her books.

Macie

(while still picking up her books)

Oh my god, I am so sorry about that, I didn’t even see you there

 

Courtney

(Rolls her eyes, in an annoyed tone)

It’s fine, maybe just watch where you’re going next time

Courtney walks away, expecting Emma and Joshua to follow her. Emma runs up to Courtney, but Joshua stays behind to help Macie 

 

Joshua

(while picking up Macie’s things and handing it to her)

Here you go

 

Macie

(In a quiet voice)

Oh… thank you

 

Macie and Jacob both stand up and look at each other

 

Jacob

Hey, are you new to our school?

 

Macie 

Oh, uh, yeah I am, I just moved here from Michigan. 

 

Jacob

Oh wow, that’s pretty cool

(They both look at each other, while having an awkward pause

Jacob

(clears his throat)

Well uh, this school is quite big and it can get pretty confusing to find your way around. Why don’t I show you where you classes are?

Macie

(feeling very relieved)

Oh my god, that would be super helpful. Thank you!

 

Joshua and Macie walk to class together. Courtney sees the two of them walking together and gets very upset.

 

Courtney

(in an angry tone)

Come on Emma

Coutrney and Emma walk to their classes 

 

Int. THE END OF THE SCHOOL DAY. DAY

It is the end of the school day. Macie walk to her car by herself, and Emma and Courtney are behind her. 

Courtney

I just don’t get it, why would Jacob want to talk to her instead of me. I’m definitely way better then her.

Courtney and Emma continue walking while Courtney plots an idea that she can use to make Jacob like her more than Macie 

Courtney

Oh my god, I have the perfect idea

(Courtney begins to smile as she walks Macie walk away)

Macie gets in her car and begins to drive home

INT. Courtneys House. Evening

Courtney opens the door to her house, throws her stuff down and runs to her room. She sits down at her desk and gets on her computer to do research on Macie. 

Courtney

(typing aggressively on her computer)

Oh come on, there has to be something good

(Courtney spends a while trying to find an embarrassing picture of Macie)

Wait a second, this could work

Courtney finds an embarrassing picture of Macie a couple of years ago. She begins to edit the picture to make it look even worst, and decides that she is going to send it throughout the whole school tomorrow. 

 

Int. Macie’s House. Evening

Macie gets out of her car and walks up to her door to unlock it, then walks inside. She puts her stuff down and sighs because of her long day.

Macie

(Loudly)

Mom, I’m home!

Mom comes down the stairs to see how Macie’s first day went

Mom

(In a cheery voice)

Macie! How was your first day? I want to hear all about it!

Macie

Oh it was okay. I met a couple of new people and I like most of my teachers. I am glad to be home though.

Macie and her mom finish talking about how her first day went.

Int. The second day of school at the bus loop. Daytime

Macie is at her second day of school getting ready to walk to her class. Courtney is getting ready to send out the picture right before first period starts.

Jacob

(yelling at the bus loop)

Hey! Macie! Wait up

Macie looks behind and sees that Jacob is looking for her. Courtney sees what’s going on and gets even more angry and jealous.

Jacob runs up to Macie

Macie

Oh, hey Jacob.

Jacob

(In a flirty tone)

Hey, so uh, I know you probably know your way around school a little bit better but I don’t want you to get lost, so I thought I could walk you to your classes again just in case 

Macie

(smiling)

Oh, yeah sure, thanks

Macie and Jacob start to walk to their classes, when all of a sudden, everyone’s phones start to go off. Courtney sent out the photo, and now most of the students have seen it. Many of the kids start to laugh and look at Macie. Macie gets really embarrassed, especially when Jacob opens her phone and sees the photo.

Macie

(in a sad and worried voice)

I have to go

 

(Macie runs off and sprints into the nearest bathroom and crys)

Jacob

Macie wait!

Jacob looks around the school and notices that Courtney has a smirk on her face. He knows that this was Courtneys idea, and gets really upset with her. Jacob begins to walk towards Courtney. 

Jacob

(in an angry tone)

Nice going Courtney.

Courtney realizes that she messed up and begins to feel bad for what she’s done 

 

Int. The end of the school day. Daytime

It’s the end of the school day, and Macie stayed in the bathroom the whole time because she was too embarrassed to leave. She rushes to her car with her head down, hoping that no one will notice her. Courtney sees Jacob, and hopes that she can get a chance to talk to him.

Courtney

Jacob, wait!

(Jacob looks back at Courtney, but keeps walking)

Jacob please, I really need to talk to you.

 

Jacob

(cutting Courtney off)

Courtney I just don’t get it. I just don’t get why you always have to tear other people down, people who haven’t done anything to you. Macie is such a cool girl, so I just don’t understand why you had to pull something like that. Was she taking away too much of your popularity because she was new? Where you jealous that people where noticing her instead of you? God Courtney, sometimes you can be so self centered, It has me wondering why I’m even friends with you.

(Courtney’s eyes start to tear up and Jacob starts to turn around to walk away)

Courtney

(in an upset voice)

You know what Jacob, you right, I was jealous. I was jealous that you were noticing Macie and not me. I thought that sending that photo out would stop liking her and maybe like me instead. But I realized that only made things worse and I feel awful about it. I promise that Im gonna fix things and make things right-

(Jacob cuts Courtney off)

Jacob

(in an irritated and sarcastic tone)

Yeah, whatever Courtney

Jacob walks away. Courtney realizes that she must do something to fix what she has done 

 

Int. The next school day. Daytime

Macie is still upset about what happened the other day. She doesn’t look up at anyone and keeps to herself, hoping that no one notices her. Jacob looks around hoping that she will see Macie, but doesn’t see her. Courtney is getting ready to fix what she’s done with Macie. Suddenly, everyone’s phones go off. Macie looks down at her phone, worried that its another embarrassing picture of her. To her surprise it’s a bad picture of Courtney. Macie looks up from her phone and looks at Courtney. Everyone starts to laugh while looking at Courtney.

Courtney walks up to Macie.

Courtney

(In a sad tone)

Macie, I am so sorry for what I did to you yesterday. I was not right, and I wish I never did something like that to you. I was just jelous that Jacob was more interested in you than me. I am really sorry.

Macie

You did this?

(Macie points to the photo posted of Courtney)

Courtney

Yes I did. I know this won’t make up for posting the picture of you, but I was hoping that maybe this will help people remember my photo instead of yours. So this is my way of apologizing to you.

(Courtney begins to walk away)

Macie

Courtney wait! (pauses). Thank you.

(Courtney looks a Macie and smiles)

Courtney and Macie both forgive each other. They walk to class together, ignoring anyone that’s laughing and making fun of them. Macie and Courtney start to become friends
