Comparing 9, the short, and 9, the full-length movie

When watching the short film, one of the first things I noticed was the style of the credits along with the music. Both the font of the text and the music gives the audience a sense of suspense. The 9 written on the back of one of the characters tells us that he must be one of the main characters. There is no dialogue in this film, however, Acker includes diegetic sound and other sound affects that allow the viewer to know what is going on. The music, camera angles, lighting, and editing are all used in a sense that make the audience feel on edge. The use of the numbers on the back of the clothing tells is a creative way to show the connection between the other characters without the use of dialogue. The full-length film still contains its suspenseful elements. More characters are involved in the full film, and there is dialogue between the different characters. This film contains more of a background about the characters and also has a more detailed plot. Something that I like about the film is how there is a contrast between scary like setting and a Cat-beast and the “sock puppet” like characters. This makes the film more child friendly. By looking at both the short film and full film, I know that the genre is a sci-fi. They both contains elements that sci-fi films have, such as robot like characters and props, and an and evil characters. Even though I enjoyed both films, I personally liked the short film better. They both contained similar elements and some of the same characters. The short film did not contain any dialogue, and had a limited amount of characters. The full film had dialogue, more characters, and more context on what the plot was about. The reason I enjoyed the short film more was because I feel like it explained the main message/plot of the film in a creative, yet simplistic way. The full film was more of a dragged out version of the short film. The both contained similar and different elements,  but both where enjoyable.
