Production Blog: Going to Julies house

Julie and I filmed the school parts first because we wanted to get those out of the way first. I wanted to make sure we got those done since spring break is coming up. Since we finished the school parts we are going to focus on the solo ones. Therefore, today after school I went to Julie's house. I helped film the parts where Macie is getting ready for school. To start, I used a medium shot to show her waking up for school. Then we started getting Macie ready for school. I did a close up of her doing her make-up and picking her outfit that she would wear to her first day of school. Our biggest challenge was the breakfast scene. We wanted to do a close-up of my mom cracking an egg into a pan, but we couldn't get it right the first couple times. So we kepted wasting eggs. But it was pretty funny. I also did a close up of Julie on the phone scrolling while her mom and I were having dialogue. This was to show that she was uninterested in having the New Girl talk with my mom. We then headed downstairs to film the scene where Macie is walking to her car. A pan shot is used to show the parking lot. I sat in the backseat to get the perfect angle of her getting ready to leave my house. I made sure to film close up/medium close up shots of Macie to show her facial expressions. Macie is not looking forward to going to the new school, so I wanted to make sure that the audience can tell that she isn't excited. We finished up the rest of her scenes, and then I had to get back home because I have work. I am glad that I was able to help Julie film, and Im glad that we got more of our filming completed.
