How do your products represent social groups or issues? Our short film focuses on some of the troubles that highschoolers go through. In this case, the new girl, Macie, attends, once again, another new school. Being “the new kid” is already hard enough, but to make it even harder on Macie, Courtney makes her first couple of days at school even more difficult. Courtney gets jealous that her crush, Jacob, likes Macie more then her. This causes her to send out an embarrassing photo of Macie to the whole school, in hopes to get Jacob to lose interest in Macie. However, this makes Jacob see what kind of a person Courtney truly is. Courtney decides that she must apologize and make up for what she’s done to Macie. The short film captures some of the emotions that many teens and highschoolers often go through. Whether it be anxiety, jealousy, or embarrassment, my short film is able to capture all the feelings that the characters go through. This helps to represent how highschoolers are very

Production Blog: editing day two

Image
Today I finished editing our film. This did not take me too long because there was not much that we needed to crop out or cut. Something that I had a hard time doing was deciding how I wanted to transition each shot to the next. I wanted each scene to be smooth to watch, and not choppy. I made sure to watch each scene multiple times to make sure that I looked nice, and there were not any mess ups. Since I already had the scenes at Courtneys house and Macies house edited, I only had to edit the scenes that we filmed at school. After putting all the scenes together, I made sure to crop out any parts of the video that we didn't need in the film. I also had to make a couple of changes to our film. I realized that we didn't film the part where I come up my plan of sending the embarrassing photo out to the school. I had to think of way that I could film this by myself, but have it still make sense. My best idea was to make it look like I was coming home from school, and that is whe

Production Blog: editing

Today, I started editing some of the clips of our short film.  I started off editing the clips of the scene where I am at my house. I wanted to make sure that I cropped everything out of the video where it was either extra time or a part where I messed up on. I also looked through the videos and cropped anything out of the Frame that I didn't need. Luckily, I don't have any super hard effects that I had to edit in, such as a split screen or transitions. I wanted to make sure that I was following the type of camera angle that I included in the storyboard. For editing my videos, I used iMovie. I am familiar with working with iMovie and I have used it before when making videos. I like using iMovie because I find that it's easy to use and also easy to edit. If I decided to add any special sound effects or music, its very easy to use. I also like that it allows be to easily crop any videos, and it adjust the volume of the videos and speed, and it also had cool transitions that

Production blog: filming the rest at School

Today we filmed the rest of the school scenes at school. Today I didn't have media, so we did it during study hall. Luckily, since its almost spring break, teachers aren't giving is too much work or tests, so I didn't have to miss doing my work during study hall. We all met up at the bus loop to film the scenes. I had the script and storyboard out to make sure that we followed it. Today I was wearing a coral sweatshirt with jeans. I didn't want to wear pink again because I wanted to contrast with yesterdays outfit, but I still wanted to follow the same aesthetic/look that Courtney has. We started off filming the scene where it starts off at the second day of school. This is where Courtney releases the photo of Macie. I made sure to have my photo ready that Courtney was going to be sending. We then filmed a clip showing that the photo was sent, and that everyone saw it. We then had to film the scene where Jacob gets mad at Courtney. This was a more emotional scene becau

Production Blog: filming at school

Today was the day that we are filming at school. We are going to film durning my eight period class, which is media. This was the best class that will work out with everyone because everyone that is going to be able to film can do it during eight period. I had a difficult time convincing Kameron to film, but I told him that I would give him a Starbucks gift card if he would. I had to make sure that I had everything ready to bring in to film. I was planning on wearing what I am going to be wearing to in the film to school, because it is something that I would actually wear.  I also had to print out the script and have the story board ready. Once we got to our class, we made sure to get to filming right away.  We went by the bus loop, and filmed the first scenes that have Jacob, Emma, Courtney, and Macie in them. I filmed the shots where I wasn't in them, and my friend Mya filmed the shots that I was in. We where able to get through the first couple of scenes. We stopped at the scen

Production Blog: filming my scene

Today, I am going to be filming the scenes with only me in them. Julie came over after school to help me film some of the parts. When I got home, I went to go change into my clothes for the scenes. I was wearing a bright pink top with jeans. we started off with me walking through the door of my house. I went outside the door and Julie filmed me walking in. During this scene, it was only me so you I didn't have much dialogue. Julie and I filmed the rest of the shots that I need for the scene by myself. Since I didn't have much dialogue, I had to make sure that my facial expressions where good so that the audience could still have an idea about what was going on in the scene. Filming these scenes weren't too hard. I would say the toughest part of this process was getting the right angle. We also had to figure out how we can make the embarassing photo look like it was found on a website or something similar so it looks realistic. This took a couple ,minutes to figure out, but
