Production Blog: Going to Julies house

Image
Julie and I filmed the school parts first because we wanted to get those out of the way first. I wanted to make sure we got those done since spring break is coming up. Since we finished the school parts we are going to focus on the solo ones. Therefore, today after school I went to Julie's house. I helped film the parts where Macie is getting ready for school. To start, I used a medium shot to show her waking up for school. Then we started getting Macie ready for school. I did a close up of her doing her make-up and picking her outfit that she would wear to her first day of  school . Our biggest challenge was the breakfast scene. We wanted to do a close-up of my mom cracking an egg into a pan, but we couldn't get it right the first couple times. So we kepted wasting eggs. But it was pretty funny. I also did a close up of Julie on the phone scrolling while her mom and I were having dialogue. This was to show that she was uninterested in having the New Girl talk with my mom. We ...

Production Blog: change of plans

Image
This week I had a plan of studying the scenes where I am at my house, putting together my plan on how I can embarrass Macie. I had a free weekend, so I thought it would be a good idea to film. On Friday, I noticed at school that I was feeling a little off. I had to go get a shot after school at the doctors office, and for the rest of the day, I was wasn't feeling 100%. I woke up on Saturday feeling worst then yesterday. I took my temperature and I had a slight fever. I was definitely not up to filming today, nor did I look good to be filmed. I was pretty upset about not being able to film because I really want to get more parts of my film finished, and I do not want to be cramming everything in last minute. March is a busy month for the students at myself school, especially juniors. We have our SAT, and a lot of school work that we have to focus on, and the closer we get to the end of the year, the closer we get to testing time. I was hoping that I would feel better Sunday, but un...

Production Blog: Finding people to be in our film

Image
For the short film, I am working with my friend Julie. I am glad that I am able to work with her because she is a good friend of mine, and I feel that we come up with good ideas. However, it definelty is it bit more difficult to create a film with only two people in the group. When creating the idea of our short film, we should have been more cautious about our ideas because it is only two of us, and we should have thought of ways to make it easier for us to film without needing extra people. Luckily Julie found some friends that were willing to participate in our film. Mya is going to be playing Emma, and she will also help film. Kameron is going to be playing Josh. I felt bad asking them to be  in my film because this part of the year is really stressful and busy, and they also have work that they have to get done, so I was pretty worried that they where not going to able to. But luckily, I was able to convince them to do it. Since some of our film takes part in a school, w...

Production Blog: Creating Props

Image
In my film, I won't need to be create many props. The only prop that I will really need to work on on I creating the embracing photos that are going to be shown. The first photo that is shown is Macie's embarrassing photo. Since she is the "new girl" I felt like it made sense the photo of her is when she is a little younger, like middle school or early high school. This is because I feel like it will be an embracing, awkward photo this will be goo to include in our film. For this photo I asked my group member to send me a couple of photos of her that she thought where embarrassing. After looking through the options of her photos, I found one that I thought would be best for our film. To get the embarrassing picture of me, I decided to ask some of my friends to send me pictures of me. I felt like they would have more bad pictures of me than I would. They sent me a couple options and I picked the best one. I made sure to pick one that wasn't too embarrassing. When ...

Production Blog: Preparing for Macie

Image
Today, I went over to Julie's house. We discussed costumes and the overall plan for our film to ensure we were on the same page. As a teenage girl, I have a lot of teenage girl clothes which help when picking out the costume for Macie. For the first day, Macie wants to make a good impression, therefore her outfit matters a lot. Julie and I discussed what kind of aesthetic Macie is going to have. We also picked a personality for her. The reason Courtney is intimidated by Macie is because she is naturally beautiful. So, in order to portray this, Julie and I decided to have Macie wear a cute outfit for her first day. Her outfit will be trendy and cute which will bother Courtney. Therefore, we chose to have her wear Pacsun light wash jeans and a fitted shirt. I will have my hair done nice. My mom will help me curl my hair both days. And I am sure Julies mom will help her do the same. Courtneys costume will be similar to Macies, but she will be wearing a Hot pink shirt. The film will ...

Production Blog: Putting Together My Costumes

Image
One of the first things that I thought of when putting together the ideas of our film were the costumes. Since I will be playing a "mean girl," it is very important that the viewers know that I am playing that type of character. When I thinking of what a typical popular, mean girl wears, I usually think of hot pink. I feel like in movies where there is a mean girl in the film, they usually wear pink, sometimes tighter clothing, and their hair is usually down and straight. Most mean girls also have blonde hair. I don't have the blondest hair, but I think it will be good enough for the movie, and it is also not necessary that I have blonde hair. When me and my group member where planning the idea of our film, the outfit I was wearing that day was actually a great example, which kind of sparked some our ideas for the film. I was wearing jeans with a bright, hot pink top with my hair in a half up half down hairstyle. This helped us come up with really good ideas on what we c...

Production Blog: Filming

Image
When starting the filming process, Julie and I had to figure out how we can get our film done on time. We both have busy schedules, so it's important to plan out how we can film without having to interfere with any of our activities. I have dance and work after school, so I wouldn't be able to work on our film after school, so my best bet is to film on the weekend. A good idea that I came up with is to film each of our individual parts at our own free time. Luckily, most of the short film can be done individually, and only a few of the scenes will need to filmed together. Julie is going to be filming her parts at her house, and I will film my parts at my house. The only part that I will need to film is the scene where Courtney is at her house and is putting together a plan on how she will embarrass Macie. She will then eventually find an embarrassing picture of her, which she will then use to send out to the whole school. I will probably ask my mom to record these scenes for m...
